Hump Day Health Hack with @amysfitnessandnutrition
Where to begin? If you are one of those people who starts a diet on Monday, tomorrow, next week, or next month the New Year will likely be your go-to time to set new goals! The only problem is sticking to them. 2020 was a write off for many between lockdown snacking and a number of stresses that were completely out of our control. The New Year brings a promising new start and also a lot of unknowns…so here are my tips for making positive changes to yourself, your health, and happiness in 2021 and beyond.
Don’t decide to only eat lettuce, join a gym, and find a new job. Your brain will be overloaded and the chances are that you'll fail at one, if not all of your new intentions. Start small and change one thing at a time. Start prepping meals for the week. This involves one change – an hour of meal prep on a Sunday afternoon – and sets you up for a whole week of healthy eating that you don’t even have to think about.
Want to start a new habit and stick to it? Make sure you’ve got rewards in place to make you feel good about your new change. Again start small. If you go to the gym why not get yourself a coffee afterward? Want to go three times this week? Treat yourself to a meal out on Friday if you make it happen!
WORK BACKWARDS
Have a think about where you want to be this time next year, next month, or even next week. Want your work clothes to be a little bit looser come Monday? Or want to feel amazing in a bikini by the time next summer rolls around? Set your goals and then work back to what you can do right now (in the next few minutes, hours, days, weeks, and months) to get closer to where you want to be.
New Years Resolutions out the window already? It’s 7th January – don’t wait until 2022. What will you wish you had started now come 7th January next year? What small changes can you make right now – today or tomorrow – that your future self will thank you for? Have a think and make a start!
“The past is history, the future is a mystery – all we have is now. That’s why they call it the present…”
WHERE WILL YOU BE THIS TIME NEXT YEAR?
Send in your intentions!
