The Wall: Central Fitness Cromwell's eyesore.

Alright, let's talk about "The Wall." You may not know what I am referring to, but I'm willing to bet most of you soon will.

The real OG of Central Fitness

It's that quirky eyesore tucked away behind the squat rack, the boxing bag and weight plates. The wall across from the basketball hoop at Central Fitness Cromwell. Come on, you must know the one now! It's a 4x2.5 meter oddity that looks like it took a wrong turn on its way to a fancy cocktail party. If you know what I'm talking about, you probably think it shouldn't be anywhere near a fitness centre. And I'm with you on this, it's weird! Let me take the opportunity to explain what makes this wall so special. In this short article I will share with you why it has stayed untouched and what its future is looking like.

Alex & her Dad Des getting suck into the reno's.

Back in 2016, when Alex and I knuckled down creating what you now know as Central Fitness Cromwell. We rolled up our sleeves and got stuck into some of the renovation work ourselves. Things such as building, laying flooring, painting, and assembling machines. The Tradies did what we couldn't do ourselves, and as might be expected, we offered our help. Assisting by chipping concrete for plumbers, lugging gib for chippies and fetching coffees when we hit that mid afternoon lull. Now, whether we were any good at it is still up for debate. But amidst all the hustle, there was this wall.

Our daily reminder from start to finish.

This wall had history. It was a relic from the days when this place used to be a bed store. The wallpaper was a mix of greyish-blue marbling with a black and gold flower pattern. It felt like something that should be in a 1920s speakeasy, not a gym. On the wall hung a basic black frame. Inside was a quote with a white background, and some colourful geometric shapes. "A Dream is Where it All Begins". A great fit for a bed shop, but we thought it was fitting for us too. See, we've got a dream. We want to make our communities healthier, we want to empower people to take control of their health and their fitness, and we want to give people the tools so they can do this long term. A healthy, active and happy community sounds like a pretty good place to live.

The big day we were working towards - February 2017!!

So, we let that wall stay to remind us of the things we set out to achieve. And you know

what? Seven years down the line, I reckon we've made a massive impact on our community. We've shared our knowledge, encouraged people to make change, brought smiles, tears, and sore muscles. Central Fitness has helped people gain, re-gain and maintain control of their health. These positive vibes and changes have spread throughout the wider community and have contributed to why Cromwell is an even better place to call home. But here's the thing, we don't need that wall to remind us anymore. We walk down the street and see it every day. You're living proof of what happens when you chase a dream. So, that means it's time to give that weird wall a makeover! While we're at it, we're shaking things up a bit. We're shuffling gear around, sprucing up the joint, and there is even chit chat about introducing some new machines. Oh, also, there's this slick new tech in the pipeline to jazz up your gym experience.

What should we improve next?

Now, here is your chance to have your say. Fill out this survey here so we know what really floats your boat. We're doing this for you, after all.

Lastly, a big thank you to each and every one of you. You're not just members of Central Fitness, you're friends of Central Fitness. We love seeing you use the gym and out on the trails, we love seeing and hearing about your journeys, not only the physical changes but the attitude changes that are often a byproduct of your own Dream. We are proud of you, we are proud of our community. You're the living proof that dreams can turn into reality. Cheers to you, and here's to chasing dreams!
